High-altitude lakes, ancient monasteries and vast mountain roads shaped for an unforgettable Himalayan journey.
Overview
Leh Ladakh is a high-altitude Himalayan journey of stark mountains, Buddhist monasteries, deep-blue lakes and dramatic valleys. Leh works as the natural base for acclimatisation before road trips to Nubra Valley, Pangong Tso and the wider Ladakh region. The destination suits travellers who enjoy scenic drives, culture, photography and adventure, but the altitude means itineraries should be paced carefully rather than rushed.

Best time to visit
May to September is the most practical season for most road circuits, when high passes and major sightseeing routes are usually more accessible. Shoulder months can be colder and route availability should always be checked close to travel.
How to reach
Fly into Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh, then allow time to acclimatise before long drives. Seasonal road approaches from Srinagar and Manali are also popular, subject to road and pass conditions.
Travel tips
Altitude is the biggest planning factor. Keep the first day light, hydrate well and avoid aggressive sightseeing immediately after arrival. Permits and road conditions for some circuits should be confirmed before travel.
